Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej and is now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born December 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 during the Olympic event. Comaneci was discovered by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics coach when she was just six years old. Comaneci competed for the first time at the national junior championships, placing 13th. The following year she took home the title of champion. At her first international event in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior competition for communist-bloc nations she took home three golds and in 1973 and 1974 she was an all-around junior champion. She took home four gold medals and one silver medals at her debut competition as a senior which took place in the year 1975. This was the first time she participated as a senior. The American Cup was hers to win. American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman to perform a backward double salto as a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her career in the entertainment business began in her teens when she began skating figure along with her cousin Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol was a part of the entertainment business during her teenage years. Early on, Carol began as a figure skater on the show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. They featured staged ice skating shows.
